Erin Reed Ferenbaugh, a recent graduate with a BA in music from Rhode Island College, is a clasically trained vocalist and a folk harpist. She finds immense enjoyment in the tight vocal harmonies that are prevalant in Anne's Cordial's arrangements, and she is excited to be able to include the unique texture and sound of the harp to the various genres of music that the band performs. In addition to the bossa nova, blues, folk and jazz arrangements explored by Anne's Cordial, her musical interests include Early music and World Folk music.
Her passion for Early Music led her to become one of the founding members of the Rhode Island College Early Music Ensemble, along with director and early music enthusiast Ellen Santaniello. It is the first early music ensemble to exist at Rhode Island College and to her delight has continued to be offered as a regular part of the curriculum post graduation. However, regardless of her recent graduation, she could not resist rejoining the group and is thrilled to continue studying and playing Early music with them during the Spring semester.
Her interest in World Folk music, primarily Eastern Europen, spurned her in the Fall of '07 to begin developing a body of music reinventing various folk tunes for voice and harp. She has performed the work solo, but is excited to have begun collaboration on this music with fellow Rhode Island College music student and Double Bassist Christopher Sadlers. The duo look forward to performing the material this spring.
She is also a member of the quartet Black Face Sheep. Their fully improvised sets focus on exploratory sound that can range from quietly haunting to franticaly noisy, with everything in between. Other members include Matt Mclaren on drums, Christopher Sadlers on Double Bass, and Frank "Difficult" on electronics.
Prior to her involvement in music she studied as a visual artist since she was a child and attended the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts from '98-'00. She continues to use her honed artistic skills when she takes a break from practicing and performing music. She is currently preparing for entrance to Graduate School for a Master in Musicology degree with a focus on early music, but is happy to be focusing on playing as much music as possible in the mean time before reentering full time studentship.
